Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Akagera National Park

When you arrive at the Kigali international airport, a representative from our company will greet you and arrange for your transfer to Akagera National Park. The drive there takes about two hours, with a stop for photos en route. You will have lunch at the lodge and spend the afternoon and evening relaxing on the veranda with a view of Lake Ihema dinner, before spending the night at Rusizi Tented Camp.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park for risers. There, you hope to see animals like giraffes, buffaloes, and elephants. Zebras have been a fixture in the park since the introduction of lions. In the afternoon, you will head back to the lodge for lunch and take a boat ride around Lake Ihema, where you hope to see a variety of water birds and animals like crocodiles and hippos that stay overnight at Rusizi Tented Camp.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will go out on your adventure to the country of mountain gorillas after eating breakfast in the morning. You arrive in the park in time for lunch and an afternoon visit to the Iby’iwacu settlement after taking a picturesque journey from Akagera through lovely cities and villages. They will dazzle you with traditional drumming and dancing from Rwanda. You will be able to take part in the dinner, dances, and overnight stay at Singita Kwitonda Lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Following breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for an early briefing before making your way into the thick forest to look for the many primate species. Depending on how far the mountain gorillas have travelled, the trip can take two hours or longer. The trail winds through a densely planted woodland. You’ll be shocked at how much you can see along the walks. After spending an hour with the primates, head back to Singita Kwitonda Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Return to Kigali City

After breakfast in the morning, you will travel to Kigali. You will arrive in time for an experience of Kigali at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a resting place for thousands of Rwandans who perished in the Rwandan genocide in 1994. From there, you can visit the museum to see the historical and artistic monuments of the Rwandan people. After visiting the neighbourhood market, have dinner and spend the night at the Kigali Serena Hotel.

Day 6: Departure

You will have breakfast after which transfer to Kigali International Airport for your flight back home.
