After spending an hour with the critically endangered mountain gorillas in Musanze’s Volcanoes National Park, you will proceed to Akagera National Park to continue your exploration of Rwanda’s wildlife on a game drive boat cruise safari. This 5 Days Exploring Rwanda Wildlife Safari also includes wildlife watching.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Musanze
On the first day of your safari, you will be picked up from your hotel by a representative of our firm who will also give you an overview of the 5 Days Exploring Rwanda Wildlife Safari and take you on a quick tour of the city to see some memorial sites for the genocide, a museum, Kimironko Market, and artisan stores. After enjoying your meal, continue your journey to Musanze by car. One of the greatest places to go on a Rwandan safari is Musanze, which offers a variety of interesting things, such as the grounds of the Musanze Genocide Memorial. After arriving in Musanze, you will tour the Gorilla Guardian settlement before spending the night and dinner at the lodge you have reserved.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, be sure to bring extra water and food, and be picked up at the trailhead for the gorilla trekking to learn the ins and outs of trekking the critically endangered mountain gorillas. Get a porter to help you carry the bag, and don’t forget to give him a gratuity after you’re done hiking. Rwanda In Volcanoes National Park, gorilla trekking takes two to five hours, with only an hour dedicated to up-close views. Following your gorilla trekking experience, you will either head back to the resort for a restful evening or let your safari guide know so they can plan an evening activity for you to occupy the rest of the day.

Day 3: Transfer to Akagera National Park
Enjoy your breakfast at leisure. Later, check out of the lodge to begin your journey back to Kigali, where you will first get to see the stunning country of Rwanda via a road trip. After having a leisurely lunch in Kigali, you will depart for Akagera National Park, where you will be greeted with a breathtaking wildlife drive at dusk before checking into your lodge for the night.

Day 4: Game Drive – Boat Cruise
After having an early breakfast, take a drive through the breathtaking scenery of Akagera National Park, which is home to both glass land and woodland. Here, you can see a variety of wildlife, including birds, butterflies, mammals, and the fascinating savanna vegetation cover. Following the game drive, you will have lunch at the lodge and then go on a boat ride around Lake Ihema in the afternoon to witness more of the wildlife that Akagera National Park has to offer. Later in the evening, stay overnight and have dinner at the lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali – City Tour – Departure
Today marks the end of your five-day Rwanda gorilla trekking and wildlife viewing safari in Akagera and Volcanoes National Parks. Take your time, have a leisurely breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin your drive back to Kigali. You’ll get to Kigali just in time for lunch. Have a leisurely lunch, and if you were unable to attend the city tour on the first day of your five-day Rwanda gorilla trekking safari and wildlife safari, you can do so today before you depart.
